Molecular Genetics & Nanotechnology

Engineering the Future of
Human Health.

Based at the Multidisciplinary Centre for Advanced Research and Studies (MCARS), Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India (since 2016), The Joshi Lab is committed to developing the next generation of therapeutics (Tx) and diagnostics (Dx) through truly multidisciplinary approaches.
Our primary research focus is combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).

Strategic Domains

Research Portfolio

Tx

Phage Therapy

We are establishing biological alternatives to antibiotics by targeting Multidrug-resistant (MDR) ESKAPE pathogens (ICMR-funded project).

  • Development of a lytic bacteriophage cocktail targeting clinical isolates In collaboration with VMMC–Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi.
  • Engineering enhanced lytic phages to create safer, more potent, and highly specific antimicrobial agents.
Dx

Nanobiotechnology

Designing gold nanoconjugates for ultra-sensitive diagnostics and targeted therapeutics.

  • Developing fluorescent gold nanoparticles based conjugates for monitoring of cellular events in live cells.
  • Developed and characterized DNA damage detecting nanoconjugates.
  • Developing targeted cancer therapeutics using nanoformulations
BS

Basic Science

Deciphering the mechanics of genome stability to understand and evolution of MDR pathogens.

  • Exploring the role of chromosomal cohesion in DNA double-strand break repair in E. coli.
  • Mapping dynamics of chromosome organization during environmental stress.
  • Identifying fundamental mechanisms that promote resistance and pathogen resilience.
